Wonderful day exploring the scenic watertown of Wuzhen. The volunteers at my university assure me this was the prettiest water town (and with good reason!) but others say all the water towns look the same. Having only been to the one, I cannot comment. But this 2-hour trek from Shanghai was undoubtedly worth it. Amazing food, cute shops, tranquility, an outdoor water theatre, and friendly locals. Spend the weekend if you can; supposedly it’s gorgeous at night when the waterside vendors light up their patios and windows with lights. 

First photo: black rice ball, spicy dried tofu, steamed rice w/ meat.
Second photo: tapioca cakes (according to my Brazilian friends who have this back home, but we didn’t try them).
